WiFi

WiFi is available via ‘ThePenn’ network – no passcode required.

Bins & Recycling

Rubbish and Recycling can be left in the large wheelie bins by the garages – recycling in the green bin and general waste in the black bin. They will be collected by our Grounds Team on a regular basis. Spare black bags are in the cupboard under the sink in the kitchen. Please place paper, cardboard and cans in the wooden recycling ‘beehive’ boxes next to the freezer. Glass bottles go in green crates just outside the back door.

BBQs

We have all you need to have a perfect BBQ on your patio (including a BBQ hamper from the Estate eShop). Contact the Office to request your BBQ and Utensils and we will install it on your patio. We do not keep them in situ so they stay protected and clean.

Heating

Should you wish to turn the heating on then there are three override buttons in the corridor between the Kitchen & Dining Room for each area of the house. Temperature can be managed in each room by using the thermostat at the bottom of each radiator.

Main Gates

Use the fob attached to the door keys to open the main gates. If you are leaving the Castle on foot, there is a green button at the top of the driveway to the left of the gates to open them from inside.

Main Gates Bell

If you are expecting someone to arrive at the Castle, they need to press the CALL bell at the main gate above the above the CASTLE GUESTS ONLY sign. The bell will ring loudly around the Castle. To open the gates use either the fob attached to the keys from the front doorway or top of the stone steps by the back door or press the green button to the left of the gates.

Phone Signal

You may have some issues with your mobile phone signal due to our remote location.  In certain conditions you may even pick up some French call roaming!  We suggest you set you phone to Wi-Fi calling and if necessary you can use the iPad, to communicate using FaceTime.

Gym

To enter the gym please enter the code C2678Y into the key pad on the door, please make sure the door is closed when you leave.

TV

You can watch the standard channels by pressing the home button on the remote and then selecting from BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All 4 or My5. Alternatively, please feel free to log into your preferred streaming service, please just remember to log out when you leave!

The Sounbar connects with the TV but you can also pair with your device using the remote.

Safety

Please ensure that every guest staying at the Castle is familiar with the fire safety and escape route information available in each bedroom on arrival.

Estate Staff

Once you are checked in our staff will leave you to enjoy the Castle but if you have any questions or queries at all during your stay please do not hesitate to call. You may see our maintenance team occasionally working around the grounds but they will leave you in peace. Staff are identifiable by Penn Castle logos or name badges on their tops.

Showers

The showers have a temperature sensor in them and it is advisable to turn the cold tap on for a few seconds before you turn the shower on.

Damages

We want you to enjoy the Castle and feel completely at home. We understand that during your stay some items will suffer usual wear and tear and there may be the odd broken glass or two. Please let us know immediately if an accident does happen or something isn’t working as it should. We’d prefer to deal with a problem quickly so that you are not inconvenienced.

Covid-19

Things look a little different around the Castle at the moment in order for us to comply with the current COVID-19 government guidance. This includes a slightly reduced kitchen inventory and the removal of some of our soft furnishings and throws. We have also provided hand sanitiser and disposable hand towels in all communal bathrooms along with additional cleaning products for you to use during your stay. We encourage guests to share information with us to help manage the risk of contagion. It is especially important that all guest and visitor information is shared with us in case it is later required for any Track and Trace requests.

If any guests do develop symptoms of COVID-19 during your stay, then we ask that you please notify staff immediately via phone or email and return home.
